Endymion gives us another thoughtful representation of feminine beauty. The figures of the two women were sculpted with bold strokes. We sense that the piece was created in clay with a sure and deliberate conviction – not the result of a tentative touch, or an unclear idea – the character of the women is assertively felt in the voluptuousness of their form. The women hail from our distant cultural past, but are undeniably modern in the way they has been imagined by Richard MacDonald.
