Inspired by the Bay Area Figurative Movement, Mulligan blurs the line between abstraction and realism, transforming everyday scenes into wondrous plays of color, line and form. In "Sunlit Trucks, Fisherman's Wharf", the artist uses deep blue hues, crisp lines, geometric forms, and vibrant yellow lines to capture the bustling "behind the scenes" perspective of famed Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.
Timothy Mulligan attended Sacramento City College and received a degree in Fine Art from California State University, Sacramento. He studied under notable artists Gregory Kondos, Gerald Walburg, and Peter VandenBerge. His paintings have been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout California and across the nation.
