Like many of the California Impressionists preceding him, Jim Lamb for years has been allured to the Southern California coast to capture mother nature’s unique beauty, character and color. The numerous rock outcroppings in the area provide the perfect vantage points for painting majestic views of the ocean and cliffs. “Bluff of Little Corona Beach” is a plein air painting executed in a palette of earth tones, greens and grays. The piece depicts the cliffs in Corona del Mar on a gray summer day. As the large Eucalyptus dominates the composition atop the cliff, it is counterbalanced by the white surf in the tide pools and the small boat sailing in the distance. The painting is signed “J. Lamb” lower right and is housed in a beautiful, hand-gilded gold frame.
