“Six Beauties I, 2015” was created during the artist’s two-week teaching residential at the Laguna College of Art and Design in Laguna Beach, California. Considered to be the same essential visual thought stretched out in six different ways, the composition is full of movement and energy, and is reminiscent of works by the masters of the Renaissance.
Jian Wang views printmaking as an exciting way to further explore the original idea. “With each step, you have a different direction you can go. For me, each option has the potential to create new meaning. I love the open-ended possibilities of processes; even a mistake can take your image in a new direction.”
