After devoting more than twenty years to the perfection of the human form in bronze, Richard MacDonald focused on a series of sculptures based on his work with dancers from the Royal Ballet. The studies were designed to be the groundwork for the creation of a monumental Grand Coda. In “Chroma, Third Life, Column”, principal dancer and model, Steven McRae performs in the contemporary one-act ballet by award-winning Choreographer Wayne MacGregor. The power of the figure has the directional flow of a lightning bolt. The primal intensity of the movement is in direct contrast to the elegant simplicity of form.
