Created to honor the legacy of the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, Richard MacDonald’s "Grip Study, Atelier" is drawn directly from the monumental 17-foot sculpture installed at Pebble Beach, reflecting his deep appreciation for the composition as an integral part of the larger work.

Mounted vertically, the sculpture invites a 360-degree exploration of the hands—the tension in the fingers, compression of the palms, and precise alignment that defines control. By isolating this singular moment, the work becomes both abstract and intimate. From every angle, shifting relationships between mass and movement reveal not just the grip, but the deeper mechanics—and artistry—behind it.
