Like many of the California Impressionists preceding him, Jim Lamb for years has been allured to the Southern California coast to capture mother nature’s unique beauty, character and color. The numerous rock outcroppings in Laguna Beach provide the perfect vantage points for painting majestic views of the ocean and cliffs. “Laguna Rocks” is an intimate view of the wave shaped rough-hewn coast of Laguna Beach. The painting is similar to many of Lamb’s impressionistic coastal scenes compositionally, with a focus on the crashing sea. However, “Laguna Rocks” is a particularly unique work in that it allows the viewer to be virtually transported to the painter's side as he sits above the cliffs capturing the scene. One can almost hear the surf crashing. The painting is signed "Jim Lamb" lower right and housed in a beautiful, hand-gilded gold frame.
