Hannah Tjia: Figures and Florals

28 March - 11 April 2022 Laguna Beach

Dawson Cole Fine Art is honored to present an exhibition of works by Hannah Tjia, a junior at the Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD). The exhibition will be on view from March 28 through April 11, 2022 at 326 Glenneyre Street. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 7, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Hannah Tjia, born in Southern California in 2001, is a painter and draftswoman whose work combines the figure with decorative, abstract florals and patterns, inspired by her love of folklore and fairytales. Exploring realism in tandem with illustrative abstraction, her work dips into an otherworldly realm and represents how her perception of reality and imagination intermingle. She works in oil paint, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, and gouache and enjoys experimenting with and combining these mediums. Currently residing in Irvine, California, Hannah is in her junior year, pursuing a BFA in Drawing and Painting at the Laguna College of Art and Design and will graduate in the spring of 2023.

LCAD's Professional Mentoring Program pairs LCAD BFA Drawing + Painting seniors with local galleries. For two months, gallery owners and managers mentor students through the fundamentals of exhibiting their work and educate them about the business side of operating a gallery. For many students, this will be the first time they exhibit their work in a professional gallery. Proceeds from art sales go to the student artists and LCAD student scholarships. Everyone can view student artwork at participating galleries that are listed at www.facebook.com/lcadprofessionalmentorprogram, www.lcad.edu or www.firstthursdaysartwalk.org.
